Director Teja, who is awaiting the release of Ahimsa, which is set to hit theatres on June 2, has announced his next project. It will see him reuniting with his Nene Raju Nene Mantri star Rana Daggubati.

Ahimsa stars Abhiram Daggubati, the younger brother of Rana, in his debut appearance. The director shared details about his next project at the pre-release event of Ahimsa, which took place in the Daggubatis’ native, Chirala in Andhra Pradesh.

The director has divulged that the film is titled Rakshasha Raju. Teja, who is known for working with newcomers through his career, also mentioned that he is planning to introduce 45 new artists in the film, and that he wishes to launch at least 10 people from Chirala itself, as a mark of respect for Ramanaidu’s birthplace and its people. 

A source close to the project reveals that the film is a pan-India project which is also going to feature actors across industries. Speaking to CE about Rakshasa Raju, Teja says, “My film is going to be a crime thriller set around a family, on the lines of a Godfather, Company and Sarkar. It is going to be a multi-starrer, there will be two more major actors in the film, whose names I will be announcing post the release of Ahimsa.” Sharing more details about the film’s backdrop, Teja continues, “The film is set in 1960s Chennai. It is set around the lives of Telugu folks living in the city. I am from Chennai, so this is a world I am very familiar with. It is based on a few real-life incidents. We are planning to go on floors by the end of June.” 

In addition to Rakshasa Raju, Rana is also set to shoot the second season of the Netflix original Rana Naidu, which features him alongside Venkatesh.
