The motion poster and first glimpse of Yatra 2, the spiritual sequel of Yatra, the biopic of the late YS Rajashekar Reddy, was unveiled by the makers of the film on Saturday. Yatra 2 will be based on the life of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the incumbent chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Yatra 2 is written and directed by Mahi V Raghav, who has also helped the first film. The sequel will chronicle the man's ascent to power. The one-minute-long first glimpse video displays an animation of crowds cheering towards a giant statue of an open-faced palm. We then pan to a shot of YS Jagan climbing up that giant palm whilst delivering a rousing dialogue. The first glimpse video ends with the words "Nenu Vinnanu, Nenu Unnanu" (I am here, I am listening). It may be noted that nenu vinnanu, nenu unnanu is a line originally coined by Mahi V Raghav in Yatra. The line was subsequently picked up and incorporated as a slogan by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in his political campaigns. While Yatra starred Malayalam superstar Mammootty playing the role of YS Rajashekar Reddy, Yatra 2 is reportedly set to star Rangam-fame actor Jiiva as the protagonist.
Yatra 2 is also produced by Mahi V Raghav, under his banner Three Autumn Leaves. Shiva Meka is the co-producer. Madhie is the cinematographer of the film, with music by Santhosh Narayanan and production design by Selva Kumar. Yatra 2 is scheduled for a February 2024 release.
