The trailer of Karthikeya 2, the upcoming Telugu film, starring Nikhil Siddartha, Anupama Parameswaran, and Anupam Kher was released by the makers recently.
It is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad, Abhishek Agarwal, with Vivek Kuchibotla, co-producing it.
Directed by filmmaker Chandoo Mondeti, this is a sequel to his 2014 Telugu supernatural mystery thriller Karthikeya. The commercially successful original evolved around a mysterious temple, and how a doctor (Nikhil Siddartha) comes to be associated with it.
Speaking about the sequel, Chandoo says, “This film, which is a continuation of the first part, will also be about doctor Karthikeya. While the sequel will have a mix of old and new characters, Swathi Reddy will not return for this film. In the trailer, there is a dialogue that goes 'each and everything in the universe is related and interlinked' and this is the crux of the film.”
The director said that the idea of the sequel came after the success of the 2014 film. “I read about Lord Krishna and Dwarka, which made me more curious to explore this topic. Like Indiana Jones, the Karthikeya franchise will also have a different adventure in each part. While the first part revolved around a closed temple, this time around, the mysterious events unfold in Dwaraka,” says Chandoo.
While Anupam Kher is playing a role called Dhanvantri, Anupama’s role is called Muktha. However, their character information is kept under wraps. Apart from them, Aditya Menon, KS Sridhar, Srinivas Reddy, Satya, Praveen, Harsha Chemudu, are also part of the cast.
The film, which was delayed due to the pandemic, went on floors in March 2021. It was shot by cinematographer Karthik Gattamneni in Greece, Portugal, and in various places across India, including Rann of Kutch, Dwaraka, Himachal Pradesh, and Vizag. The filming of Karthikeya 2, which has music by Kaala Bhairava, was wrapped up about two months back.
Karthikeya 2 is also releasing in Tamil and Hindi and is expected to have a release in Kannada and Malayalam too. It will release on July 22 in theatres.
After this film, the director will collaborate with Geetha Arts for a romantic film.
