Krishnamma: Satyadev's next to be action crime drama

Krishnamma is the title of actor Satyadev’s upcoming Telugu film, the makers announced on social media on Sunday, while releasing the first look poster of the film.

The announcement was made on the eve of the actor’s birthday, followed by release of another poster on Monday.

Directed by debutant filmmaker VV Gopala Krishna, the film is backed by Krishna Kommalapati under the Arunachala Creations banner. The film is presented by director Koratala Siva.

Speaking about the upcoming film, Gopala Krishna said, “This film is an intense action crime drama. There will be elements of revenge and rustic action sequences in the film. Set against the backdrop of Vijayawada where Krishna river flows, we have tried to draw a comparison between the river and hero’s character. Just like how the river takes in both good and bad along it, the hero is also a mixture of vengeance and love.”

The filmmaker also added that the storyline is set between the period of 2008-13 and partly based on true events, upon which creative liberty was taken to fictionalise. “Krishnamma title refers to the river. We chose the place because it is the equivalent we have to Madurai, here. Just like how Madurai is called the temple city, Vijayawada is also known for its cultural history,” he mentioned.

 The film went on floors in December 2021 and was shot for a couple of months, before it was wrapped up in February 2022. Krishnamma was shot in Vijayawada by cinematographer Sunny Kurapati, with Tammiraju on the edit. Kaala Bhairava has composed four songs for the film.

The film is the post-production stages, with the makers looking for a September 2022 theatrical release.

After this film, Gopala Krishna said that he will be collaborating with the producers for another film, for which the writing process is on. It is expected to be commercial entertainer, which will be announced in a couple of months.

Meanwhile, Satyadev who was last seen in Godse, will be seen in Full Bottle, Gurthunda Seethakalam, and Hindi film Ram Setu, which are in various stages of production.
