With just days left for the release of Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran, which marks National Award-winning filmmaker Madonne Ashwin's sophomore film, the makers conducted a grand pre-release event on Sunday.

Now, the trailer of the much-awaited fantasy film is out, and it is everything that was expected and a bit more.

The trailer opens with Sivakarthikeyan's cartoonist protagonist getting into trouble with a politician after a certain incident. While not much is known about the actual issue, and what exactly is the fantasy element that seems to come in play when Sivakarthikeyan looks at the sky, the trailer maintains a rather fun vibe. In the company of a solid Saritha, who plays his mother, and Mysskin, who essays the role of a rather disgruntled politician, Sivakarthikeyan does a neat job of setting the tone for the film's release on July 14.

We don't see enough of Aditi Shankar, who is working with Sivakarthikeyan for the first time, and Sunil too, but hope the makers have done right by them.

Here's the video:

Backed by Shanthi Talkies, the film was earlier supposed to release on August 11, before zeroing in on the present release date. The film will release in Telugu as Mahaveerudu

With cinematography by Vidhu Ayyanna, Maaveeran has music by Bharath Shankar and editing by Philomin Raj.
