The teaser of Connect, the upcoming Nayanthara-starrer film was released by the makers on social media on Friday, for the occasion of the actor’s birthday. The teaser also revealed that the film will release on December 22 in theatres, just ahead of Christmas.

The teaser gives us a glimpse of the film, which shares its similarities with the aesthetics of Western horror films. It opens with a bird’s eye view of Chennai’s Marina beach, with an eerie music played. As a card reads that the film will be 95 minutes long with no intermission, one can hear knocks of a girl who appears to be trapped inside a room and asking for help. Nayanthara, who is hinted to be the girl’s mother, enters the room where the girl tied on the bed, with cross scribbled all over the wall. The teaser also gives a jump scare with the girl to be possessed, as Nayanthara makes a quick escape from the room.

The horror thriller is set during the national lockdown.

Directed by Ashwin Saravanan, who has previously directed Nayanthara in Maya, Connect also stars Anupam Kher, Vinay Rai, Sathyaraj, child actor Haniya Nafisa in pivotal roles. Connect has music by  Prithvi Chandrasekhar and cinematography by Manikantan Ramachary. Richard Kevin is the editor.

Connect is produced by Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures.
