Singer Chinmayi Sripaada is all praise for director Karthik Subbaraj's latest film Dorothy, starring Sananth, Rishikanth, and Keerthy Suresh in important roles. On Wednesday, she took to social media, shared a poster for the film and commended it. "Beautiful, Divine, God's work. Dorothy is stunning. So beautiful," the singer wrote about the film.
Besides her singing, Chinmayi is known for her staunch advocacy on women's safety and rights, and she does not mince her words when it comes to responding to online vitriol. Even regarding her latest appreciation post for the film, one user dismissed her opinion with a sarcastic and abusive comment that not only questioned the film's portrayal of the LGBTQ+ community but also involved the singer's personal life.
Responding to the user's opinion, Chinmayi said that such takes explain why she does not consider Tamil Nadu a progressive state. The singer also added that she would not expect those who support sexual offenders when cases of sexual harassment are reported to behave any differently.
This is not the first time Chinmayi had her say regarding the treatment of the transgender community in Dorothy. Recently, she called out a user who justified his hate for the film with a clip where one train passenger can be seen groping another. In the post, the user also added the image of a rainbow, which in Tamil is also viewed as a derogatory insult on the community. In response to the user, Chinmayi suggested that such incidents are rare and isolated and that an entire community cannot be blamed for it. "Men - the number of men who have done this from the time we were babies till we become dead bodies. The GUTS to say this s**t. GUTS," she wrote in response to the user.
