It has been almost a year since the release of director Kalaiarasan Thangavel and writer Sivakumar Murugeshan's film Aan Paavam Pollathathu, starring Rio (then Rio Raj) and Malavika Manoj in the lead roles. Even so, it continues to have a prominent space among the general audience and film buffs, with many of them intensely debating its take on patriarchy and gender dynamics. Amidst all this, Tamil Film Active Producers Association and minister Rajmohan have recognised the film and its producer Vedikkaranpatti S Sakthivel.
It is worth noting that Vedikkaranpatti S Sakthivel has backed the film under the Drumsticks Productions banner. On Tuesday, the production label announced the news about the recognition for the film. Making the announcement on social media, they wrote, "Heartfelt thanks to the Tamil Film Active Producers Association and the Hon’ble Minister Rajmohan for honouring our producer Mr. Vedikkaranpatti S. Sakthivel in appreciation of Aan Paavam Pollathathu. Truly grateful for this recognition and the encouragement extended to our entire team."
Besides Rio and Malavika, the film stars RJ Vigneshkanth, Sheela Rajkumar, and Jenson Dhivakar, among others. The film hit theatres in late October last year and received mixed to positive reviews from critics. It tells the story of an orthodox man (Rio) and his feminist wife (Malavika). When they deal with a separation with an element of humour beneath it, a passionate debate and some conflict ensue between them, making the audience wonder whether the situation will end their romantic relationship for good. In our review for the film, Akshay Kumar wrote, "Aan Paavam Pollathathu keeps us engaged with a desire for Shiva and Sakthi to unite, as whenever it seems they are drifting away from each other, there is something sweet that follows..."
