For a debutant in cinema, perceptions or expectations before audiences view their work are not common. But according to Jason Sanjay, who makes his debut as a director with Sigma, he carries the weight of audience's perceptions with him. Jason, who makes his debut as a director with Sigma, is the song of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and the grandson of actor-director SA Chandrasekhar.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Jason said, "I think about how I am perceived all the time. And I think, the timing of everything has worked out interestingly. The legacy that comes with my family is always going to be there, and it will continue. And then there is political scenario and the change that has taken place."
He added, "On another side, I am in my own small bubble, doing my own thing to make my mark in the industry and deliver my vision. The only thing on my mind is that only for the first five minutes of the film, people will think that so and so have made the film. Whatever criticism I get, positive or negative, my work will speak on my behalf. I think after the release of Sigma, I can concentrate on building my own identity, and using the success, hopefully, to prolong my career."
Sigma is a heist thriller, which stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead. The film's cast includes Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Shiv Panditt, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Magalakshmi, Sheela Rajkumar, Kamalesh, and Kiran Konda, among others.
The upcoming film is set to open in theatres on September 25.
