The makers of Pa Ranjith's Vettuvam have announced that audiences will get their first in-depth look at the film's world at September 18. Pa Ranjith returns to direction, in his eighth feature directorial, after Thangalaan (2024).
The project was first announced at the Cannes Film Festival 2022. Audiences got their first look at the world of the film last September, when the makers released a promotional video on the occasion of actor VR Dinesh's birthday. The actor, who reunites with Pa Ranjith after Attakathi (2012), is set to play a martial arts practioner, opposite Arya who has been rumoured to play a gangster. Arya continues his collaboration with Pa Ranjith after Sarpatta Parambarai (2021).
Sobhita Dhulipala, who made her Tamil debut with Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan films, is part of Vettuvam. The cast of the film includes Kalaiyarasan, Mime Gopi, Guru Somasundaram, Shabeer Kallarakkal, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, Anand Saami, Harish Uthaman, Lizzy, Lingesh Prem Kumar, Kavitha Bharathi, Arjun, Santha Kumar, Melody, Manisha, Nimmy Raphael, Vikram, Naveen, and Prakash.
GV Prakash Kumar is composing music for the upcoming film, continuing his collaboration after Thangalaan (2024). The crew of Vettuvam also includes cinematographer Roopesh Shaji, editor Selva RK, art director SS Murthi, and action choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan.
Santhosh Narayanan Chenthilkumar has served as a co-writer, with Franklin Jacob penning the dialogues.
The director himself has produced the film under his Neelam Productions banner, along with S Sai Devanand and S Sai Venkateswaran who are producing under their Learn and Teach Production banner.
