At the launch event of the MS Subbulakshmi biopic, actor and Member of Parliament Kamal Haasan praised composer Anirudh's efforts towards his career, and remarked that the composer's career will take a new turn after this film. Anirudh reunites with director Gowtam Tinnanuri after Jersey and Kingdom for the biopic, which stars Rashmika Mandanna as the legendary singer.
"His career's trajectory will change with this film, just like Balachandar sir faced that change with Arangetram (1973), and Sankarabharanam (1980) changed Viswanath sir's career," said Kamal Haasan.
He added, "I like the way he is traveling now, and how he is going further. So I am very glad that this is happening."
Anirudh had previously composed music for the Kamal Haasan-starrer Indian 2.
Apart from speaking at the event, Kamal Haasan provided the first clap for the upcoming film.
The biopic is produced by Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh, and Bunny Vas under their Geetha Arts, Rockline Entertainments, and Bunny Vas Works banner.
