Yash's ambitious film Toxic opened in theatres on August 26 to mixed reviews from audiences and critics. While several viewers called out the film for its lack of a coherent story, some have appreciated the experiment. The latest to praise the film is actor Sarath Kumar. Taking to X, he wrote, "I watched the film Toxic yesterday thanks to my dear friend Yash for screening it. I was wondering how the director Geethu Mohandass had conceptualized beyond cinematic imagination and executed the scenes well."
Sarath Kumar added, "Yash needs a special mention for his performance in handling difficult scenes with ease specially in the climax. I feel one should watch this movie for many reasons as it has technical excellence and individual performances and picturization."
According to Sarath Kumar, Toxic is a film that is slightly "ahead of its time". The actor ended his review by appreciating the efforts of the team behind the film and asking the audience to watch it and form their own judgement about it.
Toxic also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair, among others. Besides starring in the film, Yash is also credited as a writer, and he served as producer through his Monster Mind Creations banner along with Venkat K Narayana's KVN Productions.
Despite the mixed opinion, Toxic has collected 282.52 crore from theatres worldwide, according to latest data from the box office tracker Sacnilk. The film is made on a reported budget of around 500 crore, so the makers still have a long way to break even. Meanwhile, the film is set to release in English on Friday. It is worth noting that it was shot both in Kannada and English at the same time, with the actors dubbing for their parts also in the international language.
