The makers of Sardar 2 took to social media to announced that the upcoming film has been given a U/A certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Karthi leads the cast of the film which is set to open in theatres on September 10.
Sardar 2 is a sequel to the 2022 film, Sardar, which features Karthi in a dual role as the spy Chandra Bose and a police officer Vijay Prakash. The film centres on the son who sets out on a mission against a conglomerate. Sardar 2 will focus on a black ops mission that ties the fate of both characters.
SJ Suryah will play the antagonist in Sardar 2 which will also feature Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, Yogi Babu, Achyuth Kumar, Balaji Sakthivel, and Rajisha Vijayan, among others.
Music for Sardar 2 is composed by Sam CS. The soundtrack will feature lyrics by Nambi, Lavita Lobo, Imbachi, and Zeba Tommy. The crew of Sardar 2 also includes director of photography George C Williams, editor Vijay Velukutty, art directors MSP Madhavan and B Sekar, stunt choreographers Dhilip Subbarayan and Chethan D'souza.
Sardar 2 is produced by S Lakshman Kumar and Ishan Saksena, with A Venkatesh on board as the co-producer. The banners backing the film are Prince Pictures and Ivy Entertainment.
