Harish Kalyan's much-delayed Nooru Kodi Vaanavil, helmed by Sasi, is finally premiering on ZEE5 this Diwali, on November 6. Ever since the announcement, netizens have been asking why the film is having a direct OTT release after being delayed for many years. In a recent interview, Sasi opened up about the reason.
Speaking to Behindwoods, Sasi said, "The direct OTT release is due to reasons that can neither be mentioned nor avoided. The decision didn't come from the creative side. On the production side, they felt an OTT release would yield better results." Further, Harish added, "Any project is like one's own baby. If it doesn't reach the audience, it causes a lot of pain for the makers. So we are just happy that the film is finally releasing."
For Sasi, the premiere comes as a relief, as he said, "Right now, we are just relieved that it will finally reach the audience. Once you watch the film and share your feedback, it will make us truly happy." Harish then added that the OTT space is no less than theatres. "We didn't really think about whether it's OTT or theatre. OTT is booming now, and a lot more content is being consumed on these platforms than in theatres," he shared.
Harish also revealed he started the film before Parking and shared some reasons for the delay. "I shot for this film even before Parking. But we got stuck during COVID. We had to shoot some portions in Goa and Mumbai. We managed to finish the Goa schedule, but Mumbai was pending. So there was some delay because of the shoot, and the release was further delayed due to other reasons."
The cast of the film includes Siddhi Idnani, Kovai Sarala, Thambi Ramaiah, Chinni Jayanth, Sampath, M Rinil, and VJ Parvathy. Sasi, who is known for directing Pichaikkaran (2016) and Nooru Saami, has also written the upcoming film.
Siddhu Kumar has composed music for the film's soundtrack, which features lyrics by Mohan Rajan and Vignesh Ramakrishna. The crew of Nooru Kodi Vaanvil also includes cinematographer Prasanna S Kumar, editor M Subarak, and art director E Thiyagarajan. Balaji Kapa has produced the film under his Madhav Media banner, along with Arun Arunachalam, who is producing under his Arun Arunachalam Productions banner.
