Hiphop Tamizha's latest directorial venture, Meesaya Murukku 2, has been announced to premiere on Sony Liv on November 6. The film initially opened in theatres on September 25.
Though Meesaya Murukku 2 is a sequel to Hiphop Tamizha's 2017 film Meesaya Murukku, the story follows three generations of a musician's family, who fight to break the hurdles that prevent them from gaining a foothold in the music industry. Apart from directing, Hiphop Tamizha Adhi headlines the film in a triple role.
The cast of the film also includes Ketika Sharma, Chaithra J Achar, Ramya Ranganathan, Baba Baskar, Harshath Khan, Nassar, and Karunaas.
With Hiphop Tamizha composing music and penning lyrics for the soundtrack, the crew of the film includes cinematographer Balaji Subramanyam, editors Fenny Oliver and Thirumalai Rajan R, and art director VS Dinesh Kumar.
Khushbu Sundar has produced the film under the Avni Movies banner, along with ACS Arun Kumar, who produces under the Benzz Media banner. Khusbhu's daughter, Anandita Sundar, has served as an executive producer on the film.
CE's review of the film reads, "Meesaya Murukku 2 deserves plaudits for pointing out how the independent scene is becoming increasingly corporatised, but it forces this conflict into a simplistic hero-villain template."
