Director SS Shree Karthick, who previously helmed the Tamil film Kanam, titled Oke Oka Jeevitham in Telugu, is now all set to helm his next. On Friday, the film's makers announced that Rukmini Vasanth will headline the yet-to-be-titled film.
The announcement was made with a quirky promo video featuring the filmmaker and his production team. They face pressure to finalise the film's lead actor to play a character named Thara. An animatronic camera then suggests a female lead, which is revealed to be Rukmini Vasanth.
Details about the film's extended cast, crew, plot, and genre are awaited. Apart from directing, Shree Karthick is also writing the film along with Vinayak Vaithianathan. Dev Ramnath, Jaswanth Nadipalli, and the director are producing under the Mad Boys Entertainment banner, along with co-producer Saikrishna Gadwal under the Siruni Cine Corporations banner.
Billed as a "Shree Karthick trip", the makers also announced that the film's title will be announced soon. The filmmaker, who has previously starred in small roles in films like Arrambam, I and Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka, made his directorial debut with the short film, Vyugam. He then helmed Childhood Diaries in Mamakiki for ZEE5, after which he made his debut with a full-length feature film, Kanam.
Kanam, starring Sharwananad, Ritu Varma and Amala is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual science fiction drama film, produced by Dream Warrior Pictures. The film hit theatres in 2022 and opened to positive reviews and commercial success.
On the work front, Rukmini Vasanth was last seen in Geetu Mohandas' Toxic opposite Yash. In the pipeline she has Prashanth Neel-Jr NTR's Dragon in Telugu and Nivin Pauly's NP51, which will mark her Malayalam debut, and Mangala Gowri in Kannada, in which she plays a cop.
