The makers of Pulavar, featuring the late Bharathiraja in the lead role, released a trailer for the film on Thursday revealing that it will hit theatres on October 30, Friday. The film was earlier set to release on September 25, but it has been postponed amidst other, more major releases, such as Karthik Subbaraj’s Dorothy, Ram's Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, Vijay Sethupathi’s Baththa, and Rajinikanth's Jailer 2.
Written and directed by Murukaiya, Pulavar also stars Raichal Rabecca, Hello Kandasamy, Ravichandran, Vetrivel Raja, Poobalam Sandhil, Chaplin Sundar, and Jintha. The trailer hints at a storyline where Bharathiraja’s police officer investigates a woman’s murder. At one point in the trailer, he asks four suspects, “Who killed that lady with an impact blow on her head?” Elsewhere, he further probes them, asking, “Upon whose order was it done?” Each of the suspects pleads their innocence to the cops, but the officers keep them in custody and even subject them to physical harm. The Pulavar trailer ends with a sinister smile and a death threat from Bharathiraja's character: “If you don't say, I will shoot you to death.”
Pulavar brings Bharathiraja back in the role of a police officer after 2022’s Kuttram Kuttrame, directed by Suseenthiran. The upcoming film marks Bharathiraja's final acting appearance on the big screen, according to reports.
On the technical front, the film has music by Ajmal Khan. According to the makers of the film, its music includes Ajmal's “gritty, rustic musical score”, alongside “the electrifying track "Oru Urundai" rendered by Santhosh Narayanan.” Also part of the technical team are cinematographer RV Saran, editor Dhanasekar, and art director A Arunkumar.
The film has dialogues by Poobalam Senthil. It is produced by Sameer Bharat Ram and Kasi Viswanathan under the banners of Super Talkies and White Nights Entertainment.
