For Dev Ramnath, known for films like Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Pechi and Parasakthi, his upcoming film headlined by Rukmini Vasanth has been a dream long-time in the pipeline. He headlines and produces the film with Shree Karthick, who is the director, and shares the screen with Rukmini and Vinayak Vaithianathan, who co-writes it with the director.

"This relates to our personal lives as well, as Shree Karthick, Vinayak and I go back more than a decade. We started our company, Mad Boys Entertainment, years ago and worked on one of South India's first web series, Happy To Be Single," Dev shares.

Their career paths have gone through a number of turns before they have finally come together for this yet-to-be-titled film. "Vinayak was the first employee and assistant director of our company. Shree made short films before making his debut with Kanam. Vinayak went on to helm Romeo with Vijay Antony. I have my own trajectory of starring in films like Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Pechi and more. This film has been a project we've been envisioning for a long while now. In the industry, we grew up hoping to collaborate, and that is finally happening with this project," he explains.

Elaborating on how their real story has in a way influenced the reel story, Dev continues, "Vinayak, Rukmini and I play three kids who grow up in the same housing quarters. This film marks the coming together of us three friends — Shree, Vinayak and myself — and that's why our tagline is #RukminiandFriends. Just like us, this film is also about three friends, and it is a coming-of-age friendship drama. The friends come together for a reason, and the film explores what happens after that."

Further, Dev gives an insight into the production plan for the upcoming film. On shooting schedules and locations, he reveals, "We plan to commence the shoot sometime in December. The film's tagline is 'A Shree Karthick trip'. So we will be shooting in various locations, including Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mysuru, among others, as the story demands it." He added that the film is fundamentally a Tamil film, but it may have dubbed releases in Telugu and Kannada as well.

Details about the film's extended cast, crew and release date are awaited. Apart from Dev, Jaswanth Nadipalli and Shree Karthick, who produce under the Mad Boys Entertainment banner, Saikrishna Gadwal is also co-producing under the Siruni Cine Corporations banner.
