Member of Parliament and actor Kamal Haasan took to social media to wish the team behind Jailer 2, and star Rajinikanth, on the success of the film. Nelson has written and directed Jailer 2, which has music by Anirudh.
Taking to his X account, Kamal wrote, "I learnt about the reports that Jailer 2, which released today and features my esteemed friend Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, has found success. I congratulate my friend, director Nelson, and music composer Anirudh, and the team from Sun Pictures on their success."
In Jailer 2, Rajinikanth returns as "Tiger" Muthuvel Pandian to hunt down a larger syndicate behind the idol smuggling syndicate that was the subject of Jailer (2023).
CE's review of the film reads, "Through the two Jailer films, Nelson has shown how one can neatly present a septuagenarian superstar. If presenting Rajinikanth’s comic talents is already a win, Nelson goes one step further, establishing the actor’s emotional range and unmasking his superstardom."
