True to his ritual, Dhanush visited theatres first thing on Thursday morning to catch the first day first show of Rajinikanth's Jailer 2. He paid a visit alongside his children, Linga and Yatra, and their mother, Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The actor, having caught the movie, has now also reviewed it, recommending it to fellow movie buffs.
Dhanush wrote, "JAILER 2 is a MUST MUST MUST watch. BLOCKBUSTER: A FEAST for every Thalaivar fan." Apart from Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan was also seen catching the first show of the film. Additionally, the film's music director Anirudh Ravichander, Rajinikanth's wife and daughter, Latha Rajinikanth and Soundarya Rajinikanth, also went to the theatres to experience the first show with fans.
With the first show now over, the film has predominantly received positive reviews, with fans particularly praising Namo Narayana's role, alongside Anirudh Ravichander's music and the many cameo appearances.
Jailer 2 sees Rajinikanth reunite with director Nelson after the success of their 2023 action drama Jailer. The sequel brings back the actor as retired jailer “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian, who returns to action to investigate a larger criminal syndicate following the events of the first film.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the film also features returning cast members Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Mirnaa Menon, Yogi Babu and Jaffer Saadiq. New additions include SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jatin Sarna, Meghana Raj Sarja and others. Anirudh Ravichander returns as composer alongside R Nirmal as editor and Vijay Kartik Kannan as cinematographer, with Nelson writing and directing the sequel. The film released in theatres worldwide on October 15.
