Composer Anirudh has shared his excitement for the release of Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role and directed by Nelson. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on October 15, including IMAX screens. It is all set to become the first-ever film starring Rajinikanth to have an IMAX release. The advance reservation figures for the film signify that the anticipation around a Rajinikanth film still remains as high as ever. According to data from Sacnilk, the film has already earned around 59 crore through advance bookings alone.
Speaking about the Rajinikanth factor behind the film, Anirudh wrote, "For generations, he has given us happiness, laughter, goosebumps and memories for a lifetime. At 76 and for the past 51 years, he still creates magic and rewrites history."
The composer added, "Tomorrow, once again for the 172nd time, the lights will dim, the screens will ignite and hopefully with all your wishes, the world will witness the love for a man who lives in the hearts of every Indian. One Sun. One Moon. And One."
Anirudh is one of the many returning technical crew members for the Jailer sequel. His music played a massive part in the success of the first film, which hit theatres three years ago. In the success meet for Jailer, Rajinikanth candidly admitted that the film was only "above average," according to him, and that Anirudh's music elevated it. In his trademark wit, the Superstar said that the composer's work on the film improved it as how a makeup artist's work on a future bride would enhance her glow.
Jailer earned around 650 crore from theatres worldwide at the time of its release, becoming only the second film from Rajinikanth to cross the milestone, the first being 2.0, the Enthiran sequel. It now remains to be seen how much its sequel will gross at the box office.
