

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay took to his official social media handle to pen a note on the 98th birth anniversary of the late legend Sivaji Ganesan. During his time as an actor CM Vijay shared screenspace with Sivaji Ganesan in Once More (1997).
CM Vijay began by remembering Sivaji Ganesan as a legendary actor whose performance and magnificient voice, is forever etched in the hearts of Tamil people and fans around the world.
He went on to mention how Sivaji Ganesan's portrayal of characters like historical heroes, legendary monsters, simple men of society took Tamil culture global.
The CM also mentioned that Sivaji Ganesan was an artistic man of expressions, and how his achievements will remain the pride of Tamil Nadu.
In Once More (1997), Vijay played a businessman who recruits a man named Selvam (Sivaji Ganesan) to impersonate his father, in order to secure his business from failing. The film explores the growing bond between Selvam and Vijay, which blooms over time.
Sivaji Ganesan began his acting journey with Krishnan-Panju's Parasakthi (1952), which was written by M Karunanidhi, who later became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Sivaji Ganesan went on to have a five decade career, where he collected numerous achievements including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (for his contributions to cinema), the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Shri awards from the Government of India. He was also the recipient of the Chevalier of National Order of the Legion of Honour from the Goverment of France.
