Parithabangal-fame Dravid Selvam and actor-social media influencer Deepika Venkatachalam have been announced to join the cast of Prime Video's Inspector Rishi season two. Nandhini JS, creator of the show, made the announcement through social media.
Writing about Dravid Selvam's addition to the series' cast, Nandhini wrote, "I'm a big fan of Parithabangal team and their YouTube sketches. When Dravid came to my office, I was excited to work with him, but was unsure if he would take up a supporting role with very less screen time. Dravid, being a true professional, didn't make the role feel small. In fact his comedic performance turned out to be extremely entertaining and his presence is so good for our show. Now that he is growing in his career doing lead roles in movies, along with working as a writer for several projects, I wish him great success."
Meanwhile, commenting on Deepika's addition, the creator wrote, "When I cast Deepika for a significant role, I didn't know that she was a very popular content creator. I was looking for a talented, dark skinned, Tamil speaking actor and when my AD showed some of Deepika's scenes from Kana Kaanum Kaalangal and Uppu Puli Kaaram, I really liked her work and signed her. During the shoots, she worked extremely hard to give an authentic performance, along with memorizing lengthy dialogues (and she had many, many difficult ones). I was super impressed."
Naveen Chandhra plays the titular police officer in the series, which premiered on March 2024. The series follows the titular character's escapades in a remote village.
Beyond his work creating comedy sketches through Parithabangal, Dravid was seen in Dude (2025), Idhayam Murali, and Drones. The actor has also written dialogues for Suriya-Jithu Madhavan's Scene, which opened in theatres today.
