Actor and politician Khushbu Sundar's next as a producer, Double Occupancy, is gearing up for release. The film's audio and teaser launch event took place in Chennai on Tuesday.
At the event, Khushbu, who belongs to the BJP, was asked about actor-turned-chief minister Vijay and what she thought about his recent move to increase the number of theatre shows to five per day in the first week of a film's release.
Speaking about their political differences, Khushbu said, “The love between a brother and sister will never change. We may belong to different political parties, but personally, we will always remain brother and sister."
She then opened up about the challenges producers face today. "Only those within the industry truly know how difficult filmmaking has become now. From the outside, cinema may look glamorous, but audiences watch, criticise, and sometimes even walk out midway through a film. Today, everyone is a critic. Only those who actually make a film understand the effort behind it," she explained.
Welcoming CM Vijay's decision, she added, "He [CM Vijay] has understood the struggles producers face today and has brought in this change accordingly. We welcome his decision to permit five shows during the first week of a film’s release. It will help producers recover more revenue, and only then can more films continue to be made.”
Santhosh, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Vinoth Kishan and Reshma Venkatesh headline Double Occupancy, which is backed by Avni Movies in collaboration with Benzz Media. The romantic fantasy drama is helmed by debutant filmmaker Aswin Kandasamy.
Double Occupancy has music composed by Sam CS, camera work by Santhakumar Chakravarthy, and editing by Praveen Antony. While ACS Arun Kumar produces for Benzz Media, Khushbu Sundar backs the film for Avni Movies. Anandita Sundar, daughter of Khushbu, serves as the creative producer.
A release date for the film is yet to be announced by the makers.
