At a recent promotional event for her upcoming film Parimala and Co, Urvashi said that nobody has ever asked her about her role model after coming to the film field. She then revealed Radikaa Sarathkumar as her role model, with the latter standing right beside her. The actor made the revelation for the first time at the event.
Urvashi also revealed that she has enjoyed countless films starring Radikaa, and she made special mentions of Indru Poi Naalai Vaa (1981) and Poi Satchi (1982). "When I came to cinema, she is the only heroine to treat me in a friendly manner," Urvashi said about Radikaa Sarathkumar.
The actors shared the screen in 1994's Veera Padhakkam, co-starring Sathyaraj, director Manivannan himself, and Raghuvaran, among others. More recently, they starred in 2022's Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu, directed by Kishore Tirumala and also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Khushbu Sundar.
Radikaa also shared her respect and admiration for her Veera Padhakkam co-star. "I like Urvashi a lot as an artist. Kamal Haasan sir and I speak a lot about her. I admonish her a lot, but she knows why I do that."
Radikaa also said that she thought Parimala is a reference to Urvashi's 1983 film Mundhanai Mudichu until the latter clarified it to her. "My only gripe with it is that they should have called you just Parimala rather than Parimala kizhavi," Radikaa quipped, eliciting big laughs from Urvashi and her co-star in Parimala and Co, Jayaram.
Radikaa also joked that she would not even turn back when someone calls her Thaai Kizhavi, referring to her recent hit film. "I take pride in it; just saying," the actor said.
Urvashi will next be seen in director Pandiraaj's film Parimala and Co, starring Jayaram.
