Actor and director Samuthirakani, last seen in Carmeni Selvam, recently spoke about the landslide victory achieved by actor-turned-chief minister Vijay in the recent state assembly elections in a press interaction.
Samuthirkani first addressed the criticism of Vijay's political inexperience. "The people of Tamil Nadu have presented the Chief Minister's seat to someone from our industry. I am very happy. A lot criticised what knowledge he had to become a politician. All those who have that knowledge, what did you do for the people?" he said, adding that he trusts that those who are new to politics will do a lot of goodness with a lot of care.
Comparing the result to a tsunami, he continued, "The election results were like a tsunami. Money, caste, religion, and arrogance did not win these elections." Moving on to how the people proved politicians wrong, he shared, "They said the people were ignorant, but they proved they were the most intelligent. He knew to take money from all political parties and vote for the party that didn't pay him."
However, Samuthirkani was also dejected about one aspect of the election result. He revealed, "But the results also disappointed me a little. The loss of MK Stalin sir, PTR Anna, and Seeman Anna made me feel sad. I felt Thirumavalavan anna should have gotten the chance to contest and win. Annamalai brother should have travelled a bit longer in this election. So the tsunami took away some good things as well."
Interestingly, in March, a leaked clip of Samuthirkani speaking about Vijay and Trisha went viral on social media. He criticised the alleged affair and said that these things must be kept within four walls after Vijay and Trisha made a public appearance at a wedding reception.
On the work front, Samuthirkani is currently busy filming for Arasan, headlined by Silambarasan, also starring Vijay Sethupathi, and directed by Vetri Maaran. He will be reprising his role as Guna from the Vada Chennai universe.
