We had recently reported about Karthik Subbaraj joining hands with emminent composer Ilaiyaraaja for the filmmaker's 10th project. While the director previously expressed his excitement for collaborating with the veteran by calling it a "blessing" and a "dream-come-true", he has now shared a statement, sharing details on the story and detailing how he approached Ilaiyaraaja.
He wrote how his 10th film is a story "rooted deep in his heart" and that he wanted to direct it after Mahaan (2022). "As I believe, a story chooses its teller and also the time it needs to be told. This story took its own time, and now it has been made with the best possible people around it," he wrote, thanking producers Guneet Monga, Achin Jain, Jyoti Deshpande, Jio Studios and Sikhya Entertainment.
He once again emphasised that it was a "surreal blessing" to collaborate with the composer. "Every emotion in my life is somehow connected to one of his songs or BGMs - happiness, sadness, love, anger, compassion, empathy, motivation... everything is attached to his music. He is a way of life for me, and I'm sure for most of us too...Though it has always been my lifetime dream to work with him, I never had the courage to go to him with my previous films," he recalled.
Karthik recalled that Ilaiyaraaja watched the film on a Saturday evening and immediately agreed to come onboard, even suggesting they begin work the very next morning. The filmmaker described the following 25 days of composing sessions with the maestro as a "blissful spiritual journey."
He also revealed an interesting suggestion made by Ilaiyaraaja for the project. Apart from the songs, the composer reportedly wanted the film’s background score to be released as a separate album ahead of the film’s release.
Guneet Monga and Achin Jain's Sikhya Entertainment banner and Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios and Dhammam films are backing the project. The yet-to-be-titled film commenced production in Madurai with a pooja ceremony back in November 2025.
Further details regarding the cast, crew and plot are yet to be revealed by the makers.
