Karuppu: Suriya's latest release, Karuppu, has crossed a major milestone at the global box office. The action-comedy, which opened in theatres on May 15, has crossed Rs 200 crores in collections, worldwide.
After crossing several release hurdles, the film opened strongly with a great opening weekend. It crossed the Rs 150 crore mark worldwide, after just four days at the theatres. Now, as Karuppu is about to complete a week in theatres, it has zoomed past another milestone.
Apart from crossing a major milestone at the box office, Karuppu has also become the highest grossing Suriya film in Kerala. IMP Films distributed Karuppu in the state.
Suriya stars as the titular guardian deity, who assumes the form of a lawyer after a devotee in distress, pleads for justice.
The cast of the film also includes Trisha, Indrans, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, Natty Natraj, among others. RJ Balaji, who has written and directed the film, portrays the antagonist, Baby Kannan.
Sai Abhyankkar has composed music for the film, making it his sophomore Tamil feature release, after the Pradeep Ranganathan-starrer Dude (2025).
