Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set to climb an international stage, as the trailer for his debut acting venture, DC, helmed by Arun Matheswaran, is all set to have a premiere at the ongoing Cannes International Film Festival, 2026. The film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi as the female lead.
While Lokesh plays Devadas, Wamiqa plays Chandra. The film, backed by Sun Pictures, also stars Sanjana Krishnamoorthy. The previous glimpses hinted at Devadas living in a troubled world whose path crosses with Chandra's and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy's characters', leading to an intense action drama.
The DC trailer will premiere at Cannes on Friday, May 15. Plot details of the film and actors who are a part of the extended cast have not yet been revealed.
Anirudh composes music for DC. Arun Ranjan has written the additional screenplay, with dialogues by Arun and Franklin Jacob. The crew of the film includes Mukesh G as the director of photography, GK Prasanna as the editor, S Kannan as the art director, and PC Stunts handling the stunt choreography. The film marks Sun Pictures' second collaboration with Lokesh after the Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie.
Arun's last release was 2024's Captain Miller, which starred Dhanush and Priyanka Mohan in the lead. After DC, Arun will also direct music composer Ilaiyaraaja's biopic, with Dhanush in the lead. On the other hand, Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently busy working on Allu Arjun's AA23 as director.
Wamiqa Gabbi, last seen in Bhooth Bangla, has Pati Patni Aur Woh Do hitting theatres on May 15. In the pipeline, she has G2, Tiki Taka, Iravaakaalam, Genie, Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling, and Kuku Ki Kundli, among others.
