Actor-filmmaker Upendra is well known for his directorial ventures, which have admirers across India, such as A and OM, to name two. The actor recently came back to Tamil cinema after the 2008 film Satyam with a role opposite Rajinikanth in director Lokesh Kanagaraj's film Coolie. The 2008 film marked his debut in a standalone Tamil film (earlier, he starred in the Tamil-Kannada bilingual H2O). However, do you know that he was approached for a different Tamil film years before Satyam?

Speaking to the media recently, Upendra revealed that he was approached for the antagonist character in director Dharani's 2004 film Ghilli, starring Vijay. However, Prakash Raj ended up playing the role, and he made it iconic.

Upendra also weighed in on the latest discourse around Vijay's political career. Vijay and his party TVK's performance in the recent Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election has been a major talking point in the past few weeks. When asked whether he feels that a similar change is likely in Karnataka, the filmmaker-actor said, "Yes, change is necessary, and change can happen here and across the world. In fact, it is already happening."

The actor-filmmaker's views resemble the perspectives of Duniya star Vijay Kumar. At a recent event, Vijay Kumar said that a change similar to what happened in Tamil Nadu's political landscape is needed in Karnataka as well.
