Vijay's Kushi director, SJ Suryah, is the latest to congratulate the actor-turned-director for his historic win in the Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections.
Apart from directing him in Kushi, SJ Sruyah has also shared the screen with Vijay for an extended cameo in Shankar's Nanban, and for a lengthier role in Atlee's Mersal. He also played a cameo in Varisu, from the sets of which he shared a memory in his post congratulating Vijay.
On X, he wrote, "When we were shooting for VAARISU I told U that I want to receive Tamil Nadu Arasu best lead actor award from ur hand soon sir … half of my statement became true; now I need to work hard to prove myself the best lead actor to receive it from U nanbha sir. Congratulations, Vijay sir, for the great victory. I am very KUSHI now, sir."
In Kushi, Vijay plays Shiva alongside Jyotika's Jenny. College mates Jenny and Shiva part ways due to a small misunderstanding. Despite being in love, their egos don't allow them to reconcile, even if it means not being able to live without each other.
Vijay secured 108 seats in the elections, with him winning both Trichy East and Perambur. The politician will now have to choose between the two, with a by-election due for the resigned seat. Meanwhile, Vijay needs 11 more seats to prove a majority and form the government.
On the work front, SJ Suryah was recently seen in Love Insurance Kompany, co-starring Pradeep Ranganathan and helmed by Vignesh Shivan. In his pipeline he has Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, Karthi's Sardar 2 and Ravi Mohan's film, previously titled Bro Code. He is also working on his directorial comeback, Killer, in which he also stars with Preethi Asrani.
On the other hand, Vijay is still awaiting the release of Jana Nayagan, which was recently leaked online a month ago. The film's release is still in limbo, as the Censor Board for Film Certification is yet to provide a censor certificate for the film. With the results scheduled for today, the censor certificate is expected to be provided soon.
