Ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly election results, which is set to be announced on May 4, Vijay has been undertaking a spiritual tour, travelling to noted shrines across India. Recently, the actor made an unannounced visit to Thiruchendur's Subramania Swamy Temple on Tuesday in the Thoothukudi district and offered prayers to Lord Murugan. A few days later, he traveled to Maharashtra to seek blessings from the famous Sai Baba shrine in Shirdi.
His pilgrimage is expected to continue in the upcoming days with the actor-turned-politician expected to visit the Nagore Dargah and Velankanni Church in the Nagapattinam district. According to reports, he will be travelling to both the shrines on May 2.
Vijay's recent devotional tour has garnered much attention on the internet with photos of his visit going viral across social media platforms.
The actor recently made his successful entry into politics through his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam where his party members contested in all the 234 constituencies in the state. Vijay contested from two constituencies - Perambur and Trichy East.
Even during his electoral campaign, the actor visited St Antony's Church on Wireless Road in Trichy. There, he lit a light, prayed, and did a kneel-walk. He later visited the Noorul Hudah Mosque in KK Nagar, where he was greeted by officials and given a shawl. He also prayed at the Kottapattu Pachanachi Amman Temple.
On the film front, the actor is awaiting the release of Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, which is embroiled in controversies and legal hurdles with the censor board yet to grant a clearance for the film.
