Acting with a legend can be a daunting task, especially for a relative newcomer in the film industry. Take Bharath, for example. In an exclusive conversation with CE, the actor talked about struggling to memorise lines on the set of his 2006 film Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu.
Bharath said that the film's writer-director Vijay Milton kept giving him new lines for the film's emotional climax, making it challenging for him to mug the dialogues up and deliver these with conviction. On top of that, he had to deal with the prospect of sharing screen space with a legendary actor such as MS Bhaskar.
"I told Vijay Milton sir not to give me too many lines last minute onset and that it would suffice if my character tears up a bit. However, he just kept adding new lines," the actor revealed. "In addition, acting opposite to me was MS Bhaskar sir. A bit like how Nasser sir would carry off his scenes without any dialogue in Em Magan, he was doing something similar. His acting was next level," the actor added, drawing a comparison between Nasser and MS Bhaskar.
Bharath also told his upcoming film Kaalidas 2's co-stars to watch his 2006 film, calling it a cult classic. He also recommended Kadugu, another film directed by Vijay Milton, and called it one of the movies that flied under the radar a little bit. "That is also a cult film," the actor told his co-stars.
Speaking of Kaalidas 2, the actor is set to comeback to the sequel to his 2019 whodunnit in the titular role. The film brings him back together with Kaalidas writer-director Sri Senthil. The recently released trailer for Kaalidas 2 hints at another whodunnit, where the protagonist looks into the mysterious death of a woman at a movie theatre.
