Actor Bharath, who will be seen next in Kaalidas 2, opened up on his recovery mechanism when his films fail.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, the actor shared that throughout his career, whenever a film did not meet expectations, he would turn to fitness and sports. "If a film fails, I go into a shell. Then I hit the gym, take up a sport, and take care of my physique. I vent it out in the gym, and it has proven effective for me every time. I go to the gym the very next day, or sometimes the very day I am told that my film is not performing well, I go work out."
Responding to what went wrong with his career graph after having a dream run with his initial films, he said it is a part and parcel of an actor's career, and everyone goes through this phase. "After a dream launch with Boys and a string of hits with Pattiyal, Chellamae, Kadhal, Em Magan, Veyil, and Kanden Kadhalai, something had happened. But it is usual for actors to go through that phase. But at this time, I want to thank the filmmakers who believed in my potential and narrated me several good scripts."
His film Kaalidas 2, directed by Sri Senthil, is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 film Kaalidas. In an earlier conversation with Cinema Express, the director had said that the second film would have more action sequences than the first one. Adding a caveat, he said he will not dilute the first part's uniqueness of being a grounded cop-procedural by introducing any over-the-top stunts.
Besides Bharath, Kaalidas 2 stars Ajay Karthi in the lead. The film also sees the return of Sangita Madhavan to Tamil cinema after 26 years. Her last Tamil release was Kann Thirandhu Paaramma (2000). Apart from Sangita, the cast of the upcoming sequel also includes Prakash Raj and Kishore in key roles, along with Suresh Menon, Anant Nag, Bhavani Sre, Raja Ravindra, Abarnathi, Singam Jayavel, and DM Karthik in supporting characters.
Director Sri Senthil has directed the film from a screenplay by Arvind Anand. Sam CS is composing music for Kaalidas 2, with lyrics penned by Mohanraj. The crew of the film also includes Suresh Bala as the director of photography, Bhuvan Srinivasan as the editor, and G Durairaj as the production designer.
