Recently, we reported about a potential collaboration between director Vignesh Karthick, best known for the Hot Spot films, and actor GV Prakash. Earlier this Saturday, Vignesh Karthick confirmed that his next movie will star the actor. The filmmaker shared a clip from GV Prakash's interview with Cinema Vikatan where the actor-composer announced it, describing it as a film similar to Love Today. "Get ready for a blast in theatres," the filmmaker wrote before expressing his eagerness to start the project.
Vignesh Karthick and GV Prakash previously collaborated on 2023's Adiyae, a romantic film with time travel elements that also stars Gouri Kishan.
For the uninitiated, Love Today stars its director Pradeep Ranganathan himself and Ivana as lovers. In the 2022 film, the girl's father (Sathyaraj) tells her to swap her phone with her lover's mobile device for a particular period and agrees to the idea of them getting married if they want to do so even after that period.
Coming back to Vignesh, the filmmaker most recently directed Hot Spot 2 Much. According to the box office tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned around 3.5 crore from theatres worldwide. The writer-director called it a film with a modest budget and said that, hence, it has satisfied his producers. The makers of Hot Spot 2 Much even presented him with a car as a sign of gratitude for the performance of the film at the box office.
