The Madras High Court passed its judgement on an appeal filed by director Gautham Vasudev Menon, in 2022, after a single judge passed an order instructing the director to payback the money he had received from RS Infotainment on an unmade film. Gautham Vasudev Menon had received Rs 4.25 crores from Elred Kumar, the owner of the production house, to make a film, which was then titled Production No 6, with Silambarasan TR in the lead.

Director Gautham was approached by the producer to make a film in 2008, with Silambarasan. As the film wasn't made, the producer filed a case in the Madras High Court.

In 2022, the single judge ruled that the director had to payback the Rs 4.25 crores back to the producer. Subsequently, the director filed another appeal challenging the decision.

Today, Justices P Velmurugan and K Govindarajan Thilakavathi held up the order of the single judge, and ordered director Gautham to payback the amount to the producer.
