Ken Karunaas' directorial debut Youth, starring himself in the lead, is continuing to add promising numbers at the box office. After a strong opening with Rs 3.6 crore on Thursday, the comedy drama has now added another Rs 3.5 crore on its second day (Friday), taking its total to over Rs 8 crore, indicating strong interest among family audiences. With the weekend already here, Youth is expected to collect a major chunk of revenue at the countrywide box office, thanks to strong word-of-mouth reviews.
Youth revolves around Praveen (Ken), a high-schooler who falls in love with three women: Anshima Anilkumar, Meenakshi Dinesh and Priyanshi Yadav. The resultant chaos and comedy that unfolds, forms the core of the film.
An excerpt from our CE review of the film read, "In Youth, Ken gets most things right and shines as a director, especially in the way he has extracted performances. While the kids are all right in this film, it is Suraj and Devadarshini who really steal the show in the last act with their restraint and subtlety. These portions also work in favour of Youth because it, rightfully, forgets that the film is a star vehicle."
The film also stars Devadarshini and Suraj Venjaramoodu, among others. On the technical front, the film has music by GV Prakash, cinematographer Viki and editor Nash.
The film is produced by Karuppiah C Ram and Sulochana Kumar under their banners Paarvathaa Entertainments and Street Boy Studios, respectively.
