Sai Dhanshika's latest film Yogi Da, written and directed by Goutham Krishna, has released on OTT following its theatrical run. The action crime drama, released in theatres on February 6, has now hit platform Aha Tamil.
Initially announced in 2018, the film stars Sai Dhanshika as a police officer on a mission to oust corruption in her town. For the uninitiated, the title Yogi Da is a nod to Sai Dhanshika's character in the Rajinikanth-Pa Ranjith film Kabali, and she sports a similar hairstyle.
Upon release, the film was met with mixed reviews. An excerpt from our CE review of the film reads, "With its cloying commitment, Yogi Da reduces women’s equality to a caricature. It turns the protagonist into a performative symbol rather than a fully lived character. Instead of simply going about her business—casually and convincingly breaking gender stereotypes—the film accentuates every transgression, as if she must constantly announce, “I am a woman doing what women are not supposed to do."
On the technical front, it has cinematography by S KA Boopathi, editing by G Sasikumar, stunts by G Ganesh Kumar, music by Deepak Dev, and music and songs by Jayanthi Ashwamithra. It is produced by V Senthil Kumar under the Sri Monica Cine Films banner.
