The cast and crew of Thaai Kizhavi, including director Sivakumar Murugesan and producer Sivakarthikeyan, participated in an event celebrating the film's success in theatres earlier this Wednesday. At the event, debutant director Sivakumar said that the film was made all thanks to the trust shown by its producer Sivakarthikeyan. "He was there with me to catch the audience response in each of the preview shows for the film. I wondered why he would do such a thing as he is also a star. Then, I realised, he was only thinking about whether the audience was enjoying the film in the same way he did. The audience clapped and whistled at the same places where he said they would," the filmmaker added.

Sivakumar Murugesan also noted how there was no "cold war" between the direction team and the production team of the film, unlike the previous films where he worked as an assistant director. Sivakumar put the absence of such conflicts during the film's production down to the passion shown by both teams. "Maybe that is why every film that comes out of Sivakarthikeyan Productions turn out to be such quality products," he said.

Sivakumar also called on to the stage his direction team and commended each of them for their contributions to the film. "I get all the praise, representing them as the director, but they have worked even harder than I did," the filmmaker said. "There was no costume designer for the film, but Anand (K Ganesan) took care of everything on that front," the director said, referring to his direction team member. He also gave a shout out to Iram Samynathan and Visagan Jeyakathir for ensuring that the art department of the film got everything they wanted for its making. He also appreciated the efforts of the only woman in his direction team, Brushniya Karunanithi, who took care of the costumes for the film. "She hustled and bustled to arrange costumes for all the artists in the film," he noted. He also highlighted how another one of his direction team members, Rajesh Pandi, pledged plenty of personal gold to get the Thandatti earrings for Radikaa Sarathkumar's character in the film.

The filmmaker also expressed his gratitude to each of the other members in his direction team, Adhithya R Meganathan, Vignesh Sadasivam, and Iram Samynathan, and the members of his production crew for their efforts to realise the film.

The director thanked his family, too, for supporting him and his filmmaking ambitions over the last many years, and his wife for taking care of his recently born children while he was away at work.

Towards the end of his speech, Sivakumar said that he, alongside prosthetic makeup artist Vineesh Vijayan, came into cinema after getting inspired by Virumaandi, starring Kamal Haasan. Referring to producer Sivakarthikeyan and their upcoming film Seyon with Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International banner, he said, "What you did to us is that you ensured that those of us who watched Kamal sir from a distance worked at his office."
