Director-actor Ken Karunaas is soon set to storm to the screens with a youthful entertainer titled Youth. The actor recently said that the upcoming movie marks a stark departure from his previous films. The film is slated for a March 19 release in theatres. Ahead of the film's release, Ken spoke about why he chose the project, how it differs from his earlier films, and more.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, he said that he has only starred in serious films so far. "I was always typecast in serious roles. I only get offers to star in films that are similar to my earlier work," Ken said. That actor added that it occurred to him to present himself as a hero in a fun entertainer such as Youth so that other filmmakers would think about making such movies with him.
Ken also said that he has been advised to star in films such as Premalu so that he could break out of the aforesaid stereotype.
"People have told me to do films such as Premalu so that I would become a young hero such as Naslen in Tamil Nadu. However, nobody tells stories such as Premalu here," Ken said, referring to the dearth of such rom-coms in Tamil cinema.
Ken Karunaas makes his debut as a lead actor with Youth. According to producer Paarvathaa Entertainments, it is an "energetic and fun-filled entertainer". The film's cast also includes Anishma Anilkumar of Sirai fame, Devadarshini, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Meenakshi Dinesh, and Priyanshi Yadav, among others. The recently released trailer hints at a story where Ken's character is a carefree youngster who shows interest in more than one girl at his college.
