Ken Karunaas, who has appeared in several films as a child actor and in notable supporting roles, is all set to make his directorial debut with the upcoming film Youth, which also marks his first outing as a lead actor. The actor has previously shared screen space with his father, Karunas, in a few films. With Ken now stepping into direction, audiences and social media users have been anticipating that the father-son duo might collaborate again and appear together on screen in future projects.
Responding to queries and speculations, Ken, in an exclusive interview with Cinema Express, denied the possibility of it. "My father told me that he wouldn't act with me again," Ken laughed, while adding, "He told me that bluntly, but may be, by God's grace, if everything goes well, he might act with me someday."
For the unversed, Karunas and his son Ken have acted in films like Ragalaipuram (2013) and Azhagu Kutti Chellam (2016).
His upcoming Youth is billed as a fun entertainer which also features Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anishma Anil Kumar, Devadarshini, Meenakshi Dinesh, and Priyanshi Yadav. The trailer of the film, which was released recently, shows Ken playing a happy-go-lucky school boy who is in love with three women.
Ken, Vignesh Srikanth, and Eshwar Santhanalakshmi have written lyrics for the film. Besides GV Prakash, the technical crew of Youth includes Viki as the cinematographer, Nash as the editor, and Ramu Thangaraj as the editor.
Youth is scheduled for release in theatres on March 19.
