Actor Sivakarthikeyan was swarmed by reporters as he was coming out of a temple this Sunday. The actor, who produced the recently released Radikaa Sarathkumar starrer Thaai Kizhavi, said that he did not expect the film to be this successful. Wishing everyone on Women's Day, the actor-producer dedicated the Sivakumar Murugesan directorial to grandparents and said that he is delighted about the positive reception for it. He also expressed his pride about producing a film that talks about women empowerment and their progress in society.
Thaai Kizhavi tells the story of an old woman (Radikaa) whose male children try to figure out how to get her wealth as her health takes a nosedive. As they spend a large chunk of money to get the woman back to health, they learn a lesson about family values and the importance of women in life. The film also stars actors such as Singampuli, Bala Saravanan, Raichal Rabecca, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, and Muthukumar.
In our review, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "If Radikaa is the heart, and the world of Thaai Kizhavi is the soul, some of the greatest hits of Kamal Haasan are the chords that tug at the heartstrings of the soul. Sivakumar Murugesan’s usage of these songs and the hyper-localised characters adds so much sheen to the narrative that Thaai Kizhavi is on top gear right from the first frame. What really keeps the film ticking is giving each of the principal characters a great scene, and the dialogues that has such authenticity that even when the film ventures into preachy territory, we never flinch."
In addition to Thaai Kizhavi, this Sunday, Sivakarthikeyan also talked about his upcoming film with its director Sivakumar Murugesan, titled Seyon, where he plays the lead role. The actor said that principal photography on the film, produced by Kamal Haasan under the Raaj Kamal Films International banner, is set to start next month.
