With positive responses from the audience and critics, Radikaa's starrer Thaai Kizhavi had a great first weekend collection. The makers announced that the film, directed by debutant Sivakumar Murugesan, has collected over Rs 22 crores worldwide in the past three days.
Of the total three-day collection, about Rs 15 crore was grossed in India alone. The film also stars Singam Puli, Arul Doss, Munishkanth, Bala Saravanan, Muthukumar, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, and Raichal Rabecca.
The film opened to overwhelmingly positive response upon release. An excerpt from the CE review reads, “Thaai Kizhavi urges women worldwide not just to know how to amass it but also to wield it responsibly. And if the financial freedom associated with money isn’t exercised to its fullest and used to empower oneself and those around, money is just powerless paper.”
Produced by Sudhan Sundaram's Passion Studios and Sivakarthikeyan's SK Productions, the film is about Pavunuthaayi, a stern, no-nonsense and foul-mouthed old woman, who her village wants dead. This includes her own family. During one such incident, her family realises her value. The film's technical team features music composer Nivas K Prasanna, cinematographer Vivek Vijayakumar and editor San Lokesh.
