At the pre-release event of Kadhal Reset Repeat, actor Jiya Shankar could barely hold back her emotions as she spoke about what the film means to her. “This film is very special to me, and it will always be. No matter how old I get, how many films I do, or what I become in life, it will always be special for me,” she said. “After all these years of waiting for that one opportunity, it has finally happened through Vijay Sir.”
Directed by Vijay, Kadhal Reset Repeat stars Jiya Shankar in her Tamil lead alongside debutant Madumkesh and Malayalam actor Arjun Ashokan. The film’s trailer glimpse suggests a romantic drama with a twist, as the male and female leads struggle to navigate reality after being diagnosed with amnesia.
For Jiya, the film marks more than just a release—it is a homecoming of sorts. “It was always my dream to work in Tamil films and South Indian cinema. I started out here, but I was too young. I thought I wouldn’t be able to come back to this industry until it happened. I am so grateful that it only takes one director to believe in you,” she shared.
Calling Vijay her mentor, she added, “Vijay sir is such a wonderful man. The people he works with carry the experience he gives them on set in their hearts forever. I never had a mentor in my life apart from my mother, but today I have one—that is Vijay Sir.”
The actor also highlighted the significance of the film’s technical team. “To get launched by Vijay Sir in the Tamil industry through a film which has music by Harris Jayaraj is any actor’s dream. This film is everything that I have ever dreamed of,” she said.
Jiya had special words for her co-actors. “Both Madumkesh and Arjun are wonderful co-actors. Although it is Madum’s first film, he has done justice to his character. No one could have done it better than him. The same goes for Arjun. He said this was his first Tamil movie. However, he’s an amazing actor,” she noted.
Madumkesh was previously seen in Adiyae, while Jiya has appeared in the Tamil film Kanavu Variyam and the Telugu film Hyderabad Love Story. Actor Arjun Ashokan, who is also stepping into Tamil cinema with this project, plays a pivotal role alongside Jayaprakash and Viji Chandrasekhar.
On the technical front, the film features music by Harris Jayaraj, cinematography by Arvind Krishna, and editing by Anthony. The story is by A Mahadev and Vijay, with the screenplay penned by A Mahadev and dialogues written by Vijay. Sunny Denvi is producing the film, with Prabha Premkumar serving as co-producer under the banners D Studios and Denvi Productions.
As the film gears up for release, Jiya’s words summed up the emotion surrounding the project: “This film is everything that I have ever dreamed of.” Kadhal Reset Repeat is set for a theatrical release on March 6 and has been cleared by the Censor Board with a U certificate.
