Recently, we reported about director Gautham Vasudev Menon seeking an extension of time from the Madras High Court for the release of his long-delayed film Dhruva Natchathiram. He wanted to settle the financial issues he has with his investors and have the film released on June 18, but the court proceedings took longer. Later, he sought time until July 31 to settle his issues and release the film.

In the latest update, it has been reported by The Hindu that High Court judge Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy has given the filmmaker time for settlement until July 31.

Earlier, investors K Premkumar and K Punniamoorthy filed appeals at the court challenging Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy's order dating back to April 30, where he allowed for the film's release on or before June 15, Monday. Recently, a division bench, comprising Justices P Velmurugan and K Govindarajan Thilakavadi, passed another order dismissing the investors' appeals.

Dhruva Natchathiram's release has long been pending partly due to the filmmaker's financial problems concerning his film. Investors Premkumar and Punniamoorthy and distributor Escape Artists Motion Pictures entered an agreement for Enai Noki Paayum Thota, directed by Gautham and starring Dhanush. What followed the deal was a financial dispute between Gautham and the investors regarding Enai Noki Paayum Thota, triggering the initiation of a dispute resolution method. Subsequently, the parties reached a compromise with the backing of an MoU, whereby Escape Artists Motion Pictures' Madan Pandy provided the investors with 50 per cent of his rights in Dhruva Natchathiram.

Notably, Madan was a partner at Kondaduvom Entertainment, in addition to Gautham and Reshma Ghatala. Subsequently, the investors filed a lawsuit back in 2023 and received an interim order from the court that prevented its release.
