Earlier this Friday, director-actor RJ Balaji shared a post on social media where he thanked his film Karuppu's lead actor, Suriya, for the trust shown on him and the film from the beginning. RJ Balaji shared a picture where he can be seen embracing Suriya and a video where the latter drives a car with him. In the caption, the filmmaker-actor wrote, "From day ONE, you believed in me. That ONE trust, turned a dream into reality, That ONE support, became the beginning of a new journey in my life. Booooooooom…. Karuppu happened…!"
Balaji added, "What started as a promise I made to you became a reality and a mega blockbuster….!!! None of this would have been possible without the ONE and ONLY Suriya sir."
Saying the collaboration with Suriya changed his life for good, RJ Balaji wrote, "Thank you for the trust, respect and most importantly this beautiful relationship that I will cherish forever…!"
The filmmaker-actor's latest post comes a few days after he faced much criticism for not crediting Suriya enough for the success of the film. When he met Chief Minister Vijay, Balaji revealed that he conceived Karuppu with the superstar-turned-CM in mind. He also thanked Vijay for the inputs that proved valuable for the film. While the filmmaker's post thanking Vijay might have come from a place of good intentions, many took exception to it and criticised him for failing to give enough credit to Suriya. Fans called him out especially for describing Vijay as "the man who started it all for Karuppu."
The actor-director's post earlier this Friday coincides with the release of the film on the digital space. The film is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
