The Madras High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed by actor Ravi Mohan seeking an extension of the deadline imposed on the Family Welfare Court to dispose of proceedings related to an interim maintenance plea filed by his estranged wife Aarti Ravi.
The Family Welfare Court in Chennai is currently handling the matrimonial dispute between Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi as part of ongoing divorce proceedings.
Earlier, Aarti Ravi had moved the Family Welfare Court, alleging that Ravi Mohan had not paid any interim maintenance from April 2025 onwards, including expenses towards their children’s school fees. However, according to her plea, the petition was not taken up for hearing.
Subsequently, Aarti approached the Madras High Court seeking directions to expedite the hearing of her interim maintenance application. Considering the request, the High Court had directed the Family Welfare Court to hear the petition and pass appropriate orders within two weeks.
Following this order, Ravi Mohan filed a fresh plea before the High Court seeking an extension of the time granted to the Family Welfare Court for completing the proceedings.
The matter came up for hearing before Justice Abdul Quddhose. During the proceedings, senior advocate J Ravindran, appearing on behalf of Aarti Ravi, opposed the request and argued against extending the deadline fixed by the High Court.
After hearing submissions from both sides, Justice Abdul Quddhose dismissed Ravi Mohan’s petition seeking an extension of time.
The court further directed the actor to approach the Family Welfare Court for any further relief in connection with the proceedings pending before it. With the dismissal of the plea, the earlier direction to dispose of the interim maintenance petition within the stipulated timeline remains in place.
On the film front, Ravi Mohan recently joined the cast of Benz alongside Raghava Lawrence and Nivin Pauly. He is currently busy shooting for his directorial debut, An Ordinary Man. Having recently wrapped shooting for Karathey Babu helmed by Ganesh K Babu, the actor joined hands with debut director GND Shyam Kumar for his next. He also has multiple other projects in the pipeline, including the long-delayed Genie and Karthik Yogi's film, previously titled Bro Code.
