Actor Sivakarthikeyan, who is currently shooting for Seyon directed by Sivakumar Murugesan, recently visited the Palani Murugan temple with his wife Aarthi. Photos of the couple from the temple visit went viral on social media on Monday, drawing attention not only for the spiritual significance of the visit but also for Sivakarthikeyan's noticeably longer hair and beard compared to his look in the film's glimpse.
The visit has sparked interest among fans, as Seyon itself is deeply rooted in the traditions associated with the Palani deity. Just weeks before the film went on floors, Sivakarthikeyan collaborated with Sivakumar Murugesan on 'Velum Mayilum', a devotional track dedicated to Lord Murugan. Conceived and directed by Sivakumar, the song featured lyrics penned by Sivakarthikeyan and was composed and sung by Nivas K Prasanna
Ever since the announcement of Seyon, speculation has surrounded its storyline. The film's promotional material hinted that Sivakarthikeyan's character could either be possessed by, inspired by, or embody Lord Murugan or Virumandi. The lore surrounding the Virumandi deity appears to be one of the thematic links between the film and Kamal Haasan's acclaimed Virumandi, leading to comparisons.
Addressing these similarities when the film went on floors, Sivakarthikeyan said the team hopes to recreate the elements audiences loved in Virumandi while presenting a story of its own. He also noted that Madurai possesses a unique power, one that Seyon seeks to capture on screen.
Produced by Kamal Haasan's RKFI, Seyon stars Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead, alongside Bala Saravanan and Aruldoss. The film marks Sivakarthikeyan's second collaboration with the banner after Amaran. The technical team includes composer Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer Vivek Vijayakumar, editor San Lokesh, stunt director Supreme Sundar, costume designer Dinesh Manoharan, and production designer Arun Venjaramoodu. Seyon is slated for a theatrical release in October.
