Pretty Little Liars actor Sasha Pieterse will star as the sister of President John F Kennedy in the psychological thriller Rosemary. The film will recount the tragic story of Rosemary from her perspective.
Rosemary reportedly had displayed developmental delays, and as she grew up, she also developed behavioural issues. At 23, the family's patriarch, Joseph P Kennedy Sr arranged a lobotomy for her, and that left her permanently incapacitated. Following the procedure, she was cared for by the institution St. Coletta till her death in 2005, when she was 86.
Written and directed by Cory Todd Hughes and Adrian Speckert, it is produced by Emanuele Moretti, The Motus Studios, Nick Medavoy, and Kaan Karahan. Hughes and Speckert are serving as executive producers, along with Mike Medavoy, who has produced films like Zodiac, Black Swan, and Shutter Island.
Pieterse is known for playing Alison DiLaurentis in the series Pretty Little Liars and its spinoff Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. Her film credits include X-Men: First Class and The Honor List. Her last feature was The Image of You in 2024.
It is worth noting that streaming platform Netflix is developing a series on one of America's biggest political families, titled Kennedy.
