Ahead of Jana Nayagan's release on July 23, the makers of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's swansong dropped the song 'Adiye En Poonthene' on Friday. The release date was announced days after the film cleared the certification process with 'A'.
The melancholic number about a father and a daughter, featuring Vijay and Mamitha Baiju, is composed and sung by Anirudh, and penned by Karthik Netha. The film marked Vijay's 69th and final film in his filmography before he took the political plunge. He eventually went on to trump the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, with his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerging as the single largest party with 108 seats. Interestingly, Vijay's character name in Jana Nayagan shares the initials with his party, Thalapathy Vetri Kondan.
Directed by H Vinoth, the upcoming film boasts a star-studded ensemble featuring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and Priyamani.
The film is backed by Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions, in its foray into Tamil cinema. Jana Nayagan is also a partial remake of the 2023 Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna.
